AEI-e1200F
PCI Express x4
Dual 2-Port Gigabit Ethernet NIC
w/ Embedded TCP Offload Engine (TOE)
Server Class Adapter Card
AEI-e1200F offers a cost effective solution for high performance fiber optic
networks. It is an ideal solution for high electro-magnetic environments; for
time-sensitive transmissions, such as voice and video; or where cable lengths
exceed 100 meters. Moreover, fiber optic networks offer resistance to tapping.
Moreover, the AEI-e1000F offers significant performance and power improvement
over media converters.
Since the AEI-e1200F is powered by the 3.3V PCI Express Bus Power.
Thus, power consumption is dramatically reduced when compared to media
converters that use double or more the power. From an integration
perspective, the necessity to power-up a media converter using
wall-power or hardwiring is eliminated.
More and more, companies have learned the advantages of speed
and security that fiber optics provides. The AEI-e1200F is a perfect solution
for any fiber network.
High Performance Server Features (TOE, iSCSI, and more):
The AEI-e1200F provides a fully integrated Layer 4 and Layer 5
solution – TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE), RDMA, and iSCSI along with a complete
1000/2500BASE-X Gigabit Ethernet for IEEE 802.3™ compliant network applications.
By itself, the AEI-e1200F provides a complete single-chip Gigabit Ethernet NIC
with a TCP/IP Processing Engine, RDMA NIC (RNIC), or iSCSI HBA.
The AEI-e1200F is different from other network controllers
because it can process the TCP/IP and relevant L5 protocols on data directly
from the application buffers on the host, thereby relieving the host CPU from
these time-consuming operations. On the receive path, the
BCM5708S processes the frame up to the highest layer supported.
Designed to support both 1000/2500Base-X networks, the
AEI-e1200F offers Auto-negotiation between 1G and 2.5G modes.
With the appropriate configuration, the BCM5708S can
simultaneously support the following three functions:
The network
interface card utilizes the Broadcom BCM5708S Ethernet MAC/PHY.
AEI Intelligent
Technologies' PCI Express Dual Port 1000Base-SX Gigabit Ethernet network interface
card (AEI-e1200F) is
designed to deliver high performance, and high reliability for demanding
applications. It provides a
full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet connection in a x4 PCI Express Form Factor.
The AEI-e1200F is compatible with x4, x8, and x16 PCI Express slots.
The
AEI-e1200F is a high performance single-port Gigabit Ethernet
controller ideally suited for high performance workstations and servers.
The
card is capable of operating in either half or full duplex mode. The
AEI-e1200F incorporates in-chip RISC processors to greatly enhance performance
by providing advanced filtering and traffic classifications as well as support
for computation intensive TCP/IP operations.
Additionally, the controller employs a powerful DMA engine to maximize bus
throughput while minimizing CPU overhead.
AEI's adapters are the perfect solution for a cost
effective, instant performance boost over any network.
Design Characteristics
Unlike other PCI Express NIC alternatives, the
AEI-e1200F incorporates only PCI Express technology throughout its design.
Subsequently, no PCI-X to PCI Express protocol conversion is necessary, thus
providing enhanced performance over our competition.
It is uniquely designed
with high precision (25ppm) clock oscillators, low profile
surface mount resistors and capacitors, and other
high-end discrete components. The result is a card that is highly
reliable, resistant to damage, fault tolerant, and performance that is
unparalleled.
The
AEI-e1000F is fully interoperable with existing Gigabit Ethernet
hubs, switches and routers.
Jumbo Frame
The
Gigabit adapter is configurable to support Jumbo Frame (9KB)
Advanced Server Features
AEI's Gigabit adapters utilize the popular Broadcom BCM5708 chipset, which comes with
numerous advance server features built into its architecture. Hardware acceleration
offloads tasks from the host processor including TCP segmentation, IP
fragmentation, and reassembly. CPU task offload functions include TCP, IP,
UDP checksum; and Microsoft LSO.
